HEPA Filtration and your vacuum, what you need to know.

What Is HEPA anyway?

HEPA Filtration captures 99.995% of particles larger than .3 microns. What types of particles are we referring to? Everything from pet dander to bacteria, pollen to dust mites get filtered before they can get into your air. Do you ever feel like you have a cold after a deep clean of your home? That's probably because your cleaning routine as well as your vacuum are spreading harmful particles directly into your air.

There are two reasons why this is happening.

Reason 1: Your vacuum isn't sealed so it's sucking the dust out of your floors and it's leaking out back into your air.

Reason 2: Your vacuum isn't HEPA filtered so these particles are escaping capture through the exhaust port. It should also be pointed out that a HEPA Vacuum without a sealed system is relatively useless.

It's All About Power

Now let's briefly talk about suction power. Power is what brings these above points together. The utility of a vacuum cleaner comes from getting debris off your floors for sure. But on a secondary level, the harmful and sinus irritating particles are deeper. To "filter your floors" you need powerful suction to dislodge the particles that are deep in your floorboards/rugs and you'll need HEPA filtration to capture them.

Finding the Right HEPA Vacuum

What vacuum cleaners on the market offer HEPA Filtration, a sealed system and powerful suction? The answer is complicated and you'll find some very expensive products. Only some of Dyson vacuums offer HEPA Filtration, typically starting at ~$500. It's also difficult to figure out which Dyson products have HEPA vs. which do not. Bissell and Dirt Devil hardly offer HEPA at all. You will also find a lot of brands offering HEPA but without a fully sealed system. Again, you need both!

Do Your Research...

So make sure your vacuum is up to snuff, it may be leaving a lot on the table (or floor). Airsign is a HEPA Vacuum with a fully sealed system, three levels of filtration, incredible suction power all for $275.
